The Lincoln Highway is the first transcontinental highways designed expressly for automobiles in the United States. Conceived in 1912 by the Lincoln Highway Association. It improved and linked existing roads between Times Square in New York City to Lincoln Park in San Francisco. It was formally dedicated October 31, 1913. Much of the route through Ohio became Route 30.
