Daniel Myers

by Carol Baize

Daniel Myers, a former Blacksmith established his business as an undertaker in 1886. He had a team of black horses that were used in the funeral procession of William McKinley in the year 1901.

The Myers Funeral Home is the oldest business to serve the community continuously since its founding.

Three generations have been involved in this profession. The Mortuary firm was established in 1886 by Daniel Myers. His son Raymond took over the funeral home in 1935 and formed a partnership with his son Eugene. They operated the business until Raymonds death in 1964, at which time Eugene became the sole operator of the business.

The firm was sold to Kreighbaum, Inc. in March of 1973 at which time it became known as Myers Chapel. The Myers Family served the community for 88 years.
