Airman First Class Joseph Paul Soule

Born- August 14, 1949

Although Joseph would have graduated in 1970, he left school early to enlist in the Air Force to serve our country.

Based on military records and information we were able to obtain, Airman First Class Soule was assigned to 3740th Maintenance Squadron, 834th Air Div., 13th AF. 

Airman First Class Soule started his tour of duty in South Vietnam on February 6, 1970.  He was stationed near Cam Rahn Air Force Base off the South China Sea. 

On March 28, 1970, Airman First Class Soule died due to non-hostile action in Khanh Hoa Province South Vietnam.

Air Man First Class Soule was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Purple Heart

Airman First Class Soule was laid to rest at Union Cemetery in Louisville.  Airman First Class Soule’s name can be found on the Vietnam Wall Panel W12, Line 53. 

Since Joseph did not graduate prior to entering the military, he is authorized to receive his high school diploma through state-level program call Operation Recognition. Joseph received his honorary diploma posthumously by the Osnaburg Local School Board on November 11, 2022.
